Lucas' 4th Birthday Party!

So we arrived at the dragon park (we call it that because there is a big sea monster in the middle that will sneeze on you if you push a button... don't believe me?... stand right here!). I don't know how we got there because the morning was a blur of shopping, running around town and keeping kids alive (easier said than done with Lucas at Home Depot).

We loaded all the party supplies into the van. To me, it actually felt like we were moving. All of the supplies (I estimate 3 tons worth) nicely fit into the back of our new van. The van could pull it because of the offsetting -3 tons of helium balloons.

Anyway - we made it to the park and claimed our picnic table. Actually, that's not quite how it went. We moved the 3 tons of party supplies to the pavilion which is about 500ft from where we parked (Chase wasn't much help. He would carry something halfway and stop). In the middle of the move another family showed up and asked which was pavilion #2 - I pointed to the pavilion with the big number "2" written on it (duh!). Phew - they didn't reserve the pavilion we wanted. Then they mentioned that they wanted pavilion #1 but it was already reserved... (&$*#$). I called the number on the pavilion and inquired about the reservation. The employee on the other end of the phone said it was rented from 9am till the end of the day. It was already 11:15am and they weren't there yet - I hung up.

We were in a delimma... do we set up in the pavilion and hope no one makes us move? Or do we move now, and hope we didn't waste the pavilion. I called the number again - (I think I ended calling about 8 times... seriously). I asked if I could have the number of the people that held the reservation so I could confirm that they were going to use it. "We can't give out that information". Fine. "Can you call them and ask?"... long pause - "Sure... call back in 5 minutes".

So we moved to a different table and set up in the middle of the park - it actually turned out really nice because we were close to the playground (and the bathrooms - you need those).

Jenni made an awesome cake- it was a dinosaur scene. Really cool. But - we forgot the lighter but that didn't matter because we also forgot the candles... Oh well.

"Happy Birthday to you... happy birthday to you... happy birthday dear Lucas........ happy birthday to you!"
...
... (long pause)
...
... "Who wants cake?!"

Lucas didn't seem to care - he was already pulling the dinosaurs off the cake, licking them, an putting them back on.

Overall, it was a really fun day. What guy doesn't like to go to Home Depot?

oops... Max got his hand stuck in the VCR... gotta go!

(edit) he is fine - for those of you that will ask me about it later.
